Judges, commissioners and referees in juvenile cases
Commissioner properly assigned to act as referee per 2001 presiding judge's order cross-assigning all commissioners as referees in juvenile dependency–no requirement they be named individually.
Once juvenile court terminates jurisdiction over dependent child, a subsequent case involving the same child and parent is a new matter for purposes of the time limits for filing CCP 170.6 motion.
Referee's order not automatically vacated when rehearing before judge granted—order remains in force until new order made after rehearing original order or per other procedures authorizing court to modify existing order.
Juvenile court referee may order CCP 128.7 sanctions in dependency proceedings.
Referee's dispositional order committing C to DHHS was not the order removing C from his home and thus did not have to be approved by a juvenile ct. judge.
Except for removal from home orders described in Welf. & Inst. Code §249, all orders of referee are effective immediately, subject to rehearing by juvenile ct. judge.
